New in 2016: Red Hot Chili Pepper 5K & Little Pepper Fun Run
The Red Hot Chili Pepper 5K and Little Pepper Fun Run will give families an additional opportunity for fun on Sept. 24. The 5K race will begin at 8:30 p.m. at Broadway and Fifth Street, with a route following Fifth Street to the Sand Creek Trail and back, ending near the Newton Recreation Center. Advance registration for the 5K is $30, which includes a ticket to the Harvey County United Way Chili Cook-off, a race T-shirt and finishers medal.
The Little Pepper 1K Fun Run will begin at 9:30 a.m. Advance registration is $10 and includes a T-shirt and finishers medal.

Following the races, Carriage Factory Art Gallery will host a free family art and music activity from 10 a.m. to noon on the gallery grounds, 128 E. Sixth St., featuring children's fun and music by the NUTS (Newton Ukulele Tunes Society).
